If you have a tooth in your smile that suffers from a noticeable dental fracture, mismatched filling, or discolored tooth enamel, it can leave you feeling awkward about your appearance. In a situation like this our dentist at Truman Village Dental in Independence, Missouri might recommend restoring the tooth’s appearance by replacing the tooth enamel layer with a porcelain crown.

After examining the tooth, to assess its overall health, our dentist will numb the area with an injection of Novocain. He will then remove the entire tooth enamel layer. An impression will then be created of the abutment left behind as well as any corresponding teeth in the area.

The impression will be sent to our off-site dental lab to guide them in creating your new porcelain crown. In the interim, a hard-plastic temporary crown is secured over the abutment to protect it.

A member of our staff will call you back in for a follow-up appointment when the crown is ready. The temporary crown will be removed before our dentist cements the porcelain crown directly onto the abutment.

If you live in the Independence, Missouri area and you have an unappealing tooth in your smile, we encourage you to call 816-569-9800 to explore your cosmetic dental options at the office of Truman Village Dental. We look forward to helping you achieve the confident smile you deserve!
